Built as a correction to how this profession usually operates.

Chiropractic has a credibility problem, and it was earned honestly. Meridian exists because there is a version of this work that is careful, measurable, and worth trusting — and it is not the version most people have encountered.

Elena Vance spent four years in a practice where she saw sixty patients a day. Eight minutes each. Adjust, book them back in, next room.

It was profitable and she was good at it, and she could not do the job properly at that speed. There is no version of a careful differential diagnosis that fits in eight minutes. So the exam becomes a formality, the plan becomes a template, and the patient becomes a subscription.

She left in 2011 and built this clinic around the opposite constraint: fewer patients, longer visits, and a re-examination at visit six where the plan has to justify itself against measurements.

What that means in practice

A first visit here takes about fifty minutes because a proper orthopedic and neurological examination takes about fifty minutes. You will spend roughly eight of those looking at a screen while somebody explains what they found and what it means.

You leave with a written working diagnosis, an estimated visit count, a re-exam date, and discharge criteria. If you cannot explain your own treatment plan to your spouse that evening, we did not do our job.

The part that costs us money

About one in twelve people who book an initial examination here leaves with a referral rather than a treatment plan. Their problem is inflammatory, or vascular, or dental, or psychological, or simply outside what conservative musculoskeletal care can address.

That is a bad quarter and a good practice. It is also the entire basis for trusting the cases where we do say we can help.

What we are not

We are not a wellness clinic. We do not sell supplements or devices. We do not offer prepaid packages, and we will not ask you to commit to a year of care before we know what is wrong with you.

We also do not claim that spinal adjustment treats conditions outside the musculoskeletal system. If you have been told by a chiropractor that adjustments will resolve your child's ear infections or your blood pressure, you were misled, and we would rather lose the booking than repeat it.

House rules

Six commitments we hold ourselves to.

These are printed in the staff room. Hold us to them — if we break one, tell us and we will make it right.

  1. A diagnosis before a plan

Nobody is sold a course of care before we can name the structure and the mechanism causing their symptoms. If we cannot name it, we say so and we investigate further or refer.

  2. Measurements over impressions

Range of motion in degrees. Validated outcome scores. The same tests at intake and at re-exam. "Feeling better" is good news; it is not evidence.

  3. Discharge is the goal

Every plan has an end. Maintenance care is a preference some patients choose, never something we present as clinically required.

  4. Scope, honestly stated

We treat musculoskeletal problems. We do not claim to treat ear infections, asthma, immune function, or anything else outside that. Roughly one in twelve initial exams ends in a referral.

  5. Consent, every single time

You are told what we are about to do and why before we do it, at every visit. There is a low-force alternative for every region and choosing it costs you nothing.

  6. No conflicts at the front desk

We do not sell supplements, devices, or prepaid packages. Removing the financial incentive to recommend things is what makes our recommendations worth something.

Where we sit in the neighbourhood

We have been on Granville Street since 2014, after three years in a smaller space two blocks north. Most of our patients come from within about four miles — Columbus, Grandview Heights, Upper Arlington, Bexley, and the surrounding neighbourhoods.

We provide sideline coverage for two local high school athletics programs, run a free monthly session on back pain at the Granville branch library, and take referrals from a handful of primary care practices, physical therapists, and orthopedic groups who have learned we send patients back rather than keeping them.
