Injury care after a collision, with the thorough documentation your claim will require — and the immediate appointment access that makes the records credible.
A collision does something to the neck that almost nothing else does. In a rear-end impact your torso is accelerated forward by the seat while your head, having no such attachment, stays behind for a fraction of a second and then whips through an S-shaped curve at a speed the tissue was never built to absorb.
The whole event lasts under 300 milliseconds. Ligaments, joint capsules, and small stabilising muscles get loaded well past their normal range. None of that shows up on the X-ray that ruled out a fracture.
Speed does not predict injury as well as people assume
Significant whiplash injury regularly occurs in collisions under 15 mph, and plenty of high-speed crashes produce none. What matters more is head position at impact, whether you saw it coming, head restraint height, and where the force came from.
“It was just a fender bender” is not a clinical assessment, though you will hear it from an adjuster.
Why documentation is part of the treatment
We are not lawyers and we are not going to pretend otherwise. But we have watched enough legitimate claims get reduced over paperwork to take this seriously.
Three things reduce settlements more than anything else: a delay between the crash and your first treatment, gaps in the middle of a treatment course, and records that say “patient feels better” without a measurement attached. All three are avoidable, and all three are our responsibility rather than yours.
What early care looks like
Not aggressive. An acutely whiplashed neck is inflamed and guarded, and forcing range into it makes things worse. The first two weeks are typically gentle soft tissue work, low-force or instrument-assisted techniques, controlled range of motion, and education about what to expect. Manipulation gets introduced as the tissue settles and only when the exam supports it.

Mechanism of injury, full ortho and neuro exam, range of motion in degrees, pain diagrams, functional limitations, and imaging where indicated. Written the way an adjuster and an attorney both need to read it.
Treat the acute phase carefully
Recently injured tissue is irritable. Early care is gentle — soft tissue work, low-force techniques, controlled movement. Aggressive manipulation of an acute whiplash is not appropriate and we do not do it.
Re-examine and report
Formal re-examinations at set intervals with updated measurements. This is what demonstrates progress, or the lack of it, in a way that holds up.

I feel fine. Should I still get checked?
Yes, and this is the single most important thing on this page. Whiplash symptoms very commonly appear 24 to 72 hours after the collision, once the adrenaline clears and the inflammatory response peaks. A baseline exam within a few days costs you nothing if you turn out to be fine, and matters enormously if you are not.
The ER said nothing was broken. Doesn't that mean I'm okay?
An emergency department is looking for fractures, bleeds, and organ injury — things that could kill you that night. They did their job. Soft tissue injury, ligament sprain, and joint dysfunction are not what that visit was designed to find, and a normal ER X-ray does not rule any of them out.
What will this cost me?
In most cases, nothing directly. Ohio auto policies commonly include medical payments coverage, and if another driver was at fault their liability coverage generally applies. We verify your coverage before treatment starts and tell you exactly where you stand.
Do I need an attorney?
That is your call and we do not push it. For minor collisions with quick recovery, often not. For significant injury, disputed fault, or an adjuster pressuring you toward early settlement, it is worth a consultation. We work with whoever you choose and we do not take referral fees in either direction.
How long does whiplash take to heal?
The majority of cases improve substantially within six to twelve weeks. A meaningful minority develop persistent symptoms, and the best predictors of that are high initial pain intensity, early onset of neurological symptoms, and delayed treatment. The third one is the only one anybody controls.
